On the day I was to shoot a firefighter’s wedding, there was a huge forest fire going on in the Western part of the country. Even though it was so far away, it affected the weather in Miramichi. The sky was not just overcast, but had a layer of smoke which blocked the sun. And somehow, it was perfect.
Amanda started her day at the Rodd Miramichi, getting ready in one of their suites. With her bridesmaids, daughter and mother, Amanda prepared to marry her best friend. Amanda wore a classic white satin gown, with a shining brooch pinned to her hip.
The ceremony was held at Saint Michael’s Basilica in Miramichi, New Brunswick. The beautiful architecture, windows and artwork framed Amanda and Lee as they vowed to love one another forever. Amanda’s daughter was a bridesmaid and her son was the ring bearer, or “ring security” as he preferred to be called. Both were there, up front with tears in their eyes as they watched their mom marry the man that makes her smile. After the ceremony, we were all brought to tears as Cohen, Amanda’s son burst into tears and ran into Lee’s arms. He was so happy that he just couldn’t contain it.
Being a firefighter through and through, Lee arranged to have a truck and his fellow firefighters there after the ceremony. It added an extra layer of romance to the day!
This day was filled with love and laughter, you can feel the joy that Amanda and Lee feel when together and it was so much fun to capture it.
